In 1987, artist Andy Warhol dies in New York after gallbladder surgery. Sometimes referred to as the "Lion of the Senate," Kennedy gave his last publicly televised speech at last year's Democratic National Convention, just weeks after having brain surgery. And in 1980, the U.S. Men's Hockey Team, led by coach Herb Brooks, defeats the Soviet Union in the Winter Olympics. Often referred to as the "Miracle on Lake Placid," it's considered one of the greatest upsets in Olympic history.
